I never thought I would see the day come when I would be using parental control on our TV. Now that we have elementary school age kids, I feel more strongly than ever about filtering what they watch on TV. My husband has always been the one to filter what the kids watch and I completely trust his judgment. I do not watch enough TV to even know how to filter the channels that the kids should not be watching. Luckily we have DIRECT TV and my husband said that it is very easy to set up parental control for channels or programs we choose to block. Our kids do not watch very much TV, and when they do they are pretty good about watching educational programs. Occasionally they want to watch a show that they heard about from their friends at school and if it is a blocked channel or program, they are not allowed to watch it. It does let us know what kind of programs the kids’ friends are watching. Hopefully we are making the right decisions about what our kids are watching.
